Staples girls soccer tops Westhill to stay unbeaten

STAMFORD—The Staples High School girls soccer team has been an unstoppable force thus far this season.

The Wreckers wouldn’t allow Mother Nature to keep them from an appointed FCIAC triumph Tuesday.

Staples remained the leaders in the FCIAC West Division as they downed Westhill, 4-1 at the Vikings’ field.

The contest was called at the start of the second half as persistent thunder (but no visible lightning) had the referees call for a mandatory 30 minute delay due to audible thunder. The rule states that the 30-minute clock resets each time thunder is heard.
