New Canaan defeated Fairfield Ludlowe 17-3 in the first round of the Class L tournament Wednesday. Quintin O’Connell led the way with four goals, Owen Shin scored a hat trick, Zach Miller had two goals and an assist, Liam Griffiths and Drew Guida scored two goals, Mac Deane had a goal and an assist, and Carl Mazabras had seven saves.
Fairfield Prep defeated the Staples Wreckers 11-10 in overtime in a Wednesday first round matchup. Junior Connor Boyle found the back of the net in overtime to help send his team to the quarterfinals on the road at Staples High School. Ethan Grandolfo and Patrick McAleavey led the scoring as they both scored three goals, Mason Reale scored twice, and Fin O’Connor finished with four saves.
