STAMFORD—The atmosphere was electric. The level of play between a pair of FCIAC division leaders was enthralling.
The final outcome was educational.
The St. Joseph High School girls volleyball team displayed their poise and big-game experience Wednesday night as the Cadets fought back to defeat Westhill High, 24-26, 25-19, 17-25, 27-25, 15-5 at the Vikings’ J. Walter Kennedy Athletic complex.
“I told the girls during Game 4 that this was an opportunity to be a character builder. And our great athletes came out,” said St. Joseph’s veteran coach Jeff Babineau. “The atmosphere with the big crowd was almost like a state final. Our experience and our composure were the biggest things I was happiest to see. We controlled what we needed to control.”
