In the end, the end result was what mattered.
With junior Cate Irving scoring two goals, the Ridgefield High field hockey team defeated visiting Brien McMahon, 3-1, on Friday in a Play for Pink game.
The Tigers, who were coming off consecutive losses to Norwalk and New Canaan, had some trouble putting away McMahon, which entered the game with just one victory.
“We needed this win to set us back on track and to remind us how any [opponent] is capable of competing,” said Ridgefield head coach Jessica Smith, whose team improved to 5-2-1-1. “It may not have been as clean as we would have liked, but at the end of the day we got the win we came for.”
