The Darien volleyball team had a bit of a wake-up call with a first-set loss to the Hall Warriors in the opening round of the Class LL playoffs. In the end, however, the Blue Wave rolled on.
Darien responded to its brief deficit with three straight decisive victories and defeated Hall, 3-1, Monday in the DHS gymnasium. The Wave won two of the final three sets by double digits for a 21-25, 25-10, 25-17, 25-10 victory.
It was Darien’s first state tournament victory in three seasons, as the Wave had been knocked out in the first round by Trumbull and Greenwich respectively the past two years.
