STAMFORD — It was the best holiday present Mike Papale could have received.
The Fairfield Prep boys basketball team gave their new coach his first victory as the Jesuits topped Trinity Catholic, 68-62, Saturday night on the first evening of the Jack Smyth Memorial Classic at Trinity’s Walsh Court.
“I’m fortunate we have a lot of kids who want to be good and want to get better each day. They have bought in to what the coaching staff wants,” Papale said. “Trinity Catholic didn’t quit. I’m glad the kids could get this win done.”
