Six of the eight playoff teams had been determined prior to Friday’s games, with the Staples Wreckers having clinched with their 3-1 win over New Canaan on Wednesday.
Stamford defeated Trinity Catholic 3-0, and New Canaan defeated the Westhill Vikings 3-2 on Friday, creating a three-way tie between Stamford, New Canaan and Westhill, who were all 9-7 in league play.
Head-to-head, the three teams were 1-1 against each other, so the quality win criteria was used to break the tie, with Stamford taking No. 7 based on its win over Danbury. The tiebreaker then reverted to head-to-head with New Canaan getting the No. 8 seed with its win over the Vikings.
The St. Joseph Cadets completed the difficult task of an undefeated FCIAC regular season by shutting out Staples, 3-0, on Friday. The Cadets, who are 16-0 in league play, are the No. 1 seed.
Greenwich and Ridgefield both finished 14-2, with Greenwich taking the No. 2 seed based on its win over Ridgefield on Sept. 28. Ridgefield is No. 3.
The Trumbull Eagles topped the Danbury Hatters, 3-0, and both teams finished 11-5. They’ll play again in the quarterfinals, with No. 4 Trumbull hosting No. 5 Danbury.
Staples finished 10-6 and is the No. 6 seed, earning a trip to Ridgefield for the quarterfinals.
