Two FCIAC boys basketball playoff hopefuls will match up as the Bridgeport Central Hilltoppers host the Stamford Black Knights live on the HAN Network Wednesday, Feb. 14, at 7 p.m.
You can watch the HAN Network’s live pregame show at 6:50 p.m., and the game live at FCIAC.net and HAN.Network, or on Frontier Communications’ Vantage Sports Network (Chs. 600/1600). Frank Granito and Kevin Coleman will be on the call
The Black Knights (12-5 Overall, 10-3 FCIAC) currently hold the fourth seed in the conference playoff race.
The Black Knights have been a big surprise this season and are a team nobody wants to face in the first round of the playoffs. Head coach Zach Smith has done a terrific job bringing this basketball program back into the postseason picture with scrappy defense, strong rebounding, and has multiple scoring threats. One of those scoring threats is Jelani Jackson, who is coming off a 22-point performance in Monday night’s 61-58 win over city rival Westhill.
Bridgeport Central (9-5 Overall, 9-4 FCIAC) is in a four-way tie with Norwalk, Trumbull, and Fairfield Warde for the FCIAC’s fifth seed.
Much like the Black Knights, the Hilltoppers have been a pleasant surprise this season and they are a team that can make some noise in the postseason. The Hilltoppers will rely on scoring threats, DJ Fulton and Raj Walker, who continue to shine on the hardwood this year and look to clinch a playoff spot at home.
