On a day when the New Canaan field hockey team celebrated its 12 seniors, the Rams moved two points closer to clinching an FCIAC tournament berth.
Receiving goals from a freshman, sophomore and senior New Canaan was in control from start to finish, blanking the Stamford Black Knights 3-0 during Senior Day at Dunning Field on Tuesday.
After a rough stretch which saw them drop successive games to Norwalk, Darien and Staples, the Rams have now won back-to-back games and have seemingly righted the ship.
“I think they’re finding their energy again and they’re finding how to reconnect with themselves, especially after quite a few tough games,” New Canaan head coach Kelly Marks said. “We were prepared for them, but we kind of got into a little bit of a lull so now we’re working our way out of it. Today was a good showing of that with their energy levels. It’s senior day and they’re finally starting to come back out again.”
