There are four FCIAC teams – Ridgefield, Greenwich, Darien and New Canaan – ranked among the top nine in the 2018-19 GameTimeCT Preseason Boys Hockey Poll.
Fairfield Prep was voted No. 1, having received 10 of the 14 first-place votes.
Ridgefield received three first-place votes and is ranked second and Greenwich got one first-place vote to be ranked third. Hamden is ranked fourth.
Darien is the third FCIAC team ranked among the top five as the Blue Wave is tied for fifth with Xavier.
The rest of the top 10, in order, are Notre Dame-West Haven, Northwest Catholic, ninth-ranked New Canaan and Notre Dame-Fairfield.
Last year top-seeded Fairfield Prep won the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference Division I Boys Hockey Tournament with a 4-2 victory over second-seeded Greenwich.
Prep advanced with a 4-1 semifinal victory over fifth-seeded Ridgefield, which had advanced there with a 7-0 quarterfinal victory over 13th-seeded Darien.
New Canaan was seeded 11th and the Rams lost in triple overtime, 2-1, to sixth-seeded Hamden in the first round.
The 14 voters on the poll consisted of 10 media members and four coaches, including Ridgefield coach Shaun Gallagher.
